Hamburg-based studio Tiny Roar releases XEL

Hamburg-based indie game studio Tiny Roar releases their sci-fi action-adventure XEL on July 12.

The sci-fi action-adventure game XEL, developed by Hamburg-based studio Tiny Roar and published by ASSEMBLE Entertainment, is out today, on July 12!

After receiving federal funding for games, Tiny Roar developed the game in the last 14 months. The indie game studio from Hamburg grew from 11 to 20 team members and worked hard on the action-adventure game with a top-down perspective.

What will Reid find on XEL?

In XEL, the protagonist Reid tries to uncover her mysterious past, collects gadgets along the way to master challenging dungeons, and solves tricky puzzles on the planet XEL. Tiny Roar even released glimpes into how they made the game in their Devlogs, so if you want to know more details about the gadgets, the inspiration for the game, puzzle or weapon concepts, head over to the Devlog pages on steam: XEL Devlog.

Games Lift: Fliegender Start im dritten Jahr

Augenblick, wie hat eigentlich der dritte Games Lift Inkubator angefangen? Routiniert. Das Programm hat mit der Erfahrung aus zwei Jahren intensiver losgelegt denn je. Gut, dass diesmal auch eine Verschnaufpause eingeplant ist.

Road to Polaris: Bewerbt euch bis zum 29. September

Die Polaris 2022 wird erstmals vom 28. bis 30. Oktober mit einem dreitägigen Programm und zahlreichen Akteur*innen und Künstler*innen aus den Bereichen Gaming, E-Sport, Cosplay und Content Creation veranstaltet. Gamecity Hamburg stellt kostenlose Standpakete für Hamburger Studios, Publisher, Teams und Entwickler*innen zur Verfügung. Die Bewerbung läuft bis zum 29. September!

Bewerbungsphase für Schulpraktikum Games 2023 bei Hamburger Unternehmen startet

Beim „Schulpraktikum Games“ lernen Schüler*innen der 9. Klassen im Januar 2023 mehr über die Jobperspektiven in der Spielebranche am Games-Standort Hamburg. In den drei Unternehmen InnoGames, Goodgame Studios und FISHLABS sowie an der Hochschule für angewandte Wissenschaften (HAW Hamburg) schnuppern sie dabei echte Gamesbranchen-Luft.

Heart of Muriet: Kickstarter campaign online

Update: Cratr.games has already managed to secure an alternative financing within days after starting the Kickstarter campaign and therefore stopped the campaign already. Congratulations to Cratr.games on securing funding for the further development of their game! The demo for Heart of Muriet continues to be available on Steam.

Recap: Road to gamescom 2022

In 2022, the world's largest video games trade fair, gamescom, returned to Cologne under the theme "The Heart of Pop Culture." With our support program "Road to gamescom," Gamecity Hamburg enabled six indie studios from Hamburg to present their games at the Gamecity Hamburg booth at the beloved Indie Arena Booth.

September startet für sie der Games Lift Inkubator als in Deutschland einzigartiges Förderprogramm, das die Teams mit einem dreimonatigen Workshop- und Mentoring-Programm mit internationalen Branchenexpert*innen, 15.000 Euro finanzieller Förderung und Arbeitsplätzen in einem Hamburger Co-Working Space voranbringt. Schulpraktikum Games: Einblicke in die Hamburger Game Studios

Wir haben 20 Schüler*innen an einem Tag ihres Schulpraktikums in der Hamburger Gamesbranche begleitet und durften sehen, was die Praktikant*innen bereits alles gelernt hatten. An diesem Tag wurden wir zu Deep Silver FISHLABS eingeladen und haben einen tollen Workshop zum Thema Game Design bekommen.
